CBL may seem like the new kid on the block, such his rise has been over the last 18 months but it's been an 8-year long road of the Longford native to reach the peak of the Irish Wrestling scene.
Fight Factory Pro Wrestling has a long 20+ year history of producing top quality wrestlers. In fact, you look any top match or main event on the Island of Ireland and you can bet that it can be tracked back to the mats in Bray or North Strand. Countless performers who are all at a very high level so how did a young man from Granard, Co. Longford rise through the ranks to claim the top prize?
There were many years of setbacks and false starts for CBL. Until about 3 years ago he found something that resonated with the fans. He created comedy tourist videos of his trips to the 'Big Smoke', or Dublin as the rest of us would call it. These short videos gave CBL more of spotlight than any match could. With a noticable niche and the crowd eagerly behind him. CBL only had one other thing to do. Prove himself in the ring.
He showcased his ability when the time came, with excellent matches versus the likes of LJ Cleary, Fabio and Leyton Buzzard to name a few and despite losing, the fans could see that there was more to this man than ham sandwiches and a farmers tan.
The accumlation of all his battles and hard work came at Grapple Games 2 when he pinned former Champion Martin Steers to capture the Irish Junior Heavyweight Championship. The Year of the Bull was a success and the future of FFPW changes forevermore.
Now, a top of the mountain. The question is, how long can he stay there, with countless challengers waiting to take him on. One thing is for sure, it will take some man or woman to dethrone him. The era of the Bull is here and doesn't look like ending anytime soon!!
